Hello Beeros,
Now that the dust has settled, the beery foam dissipated, the pub garden bench irrevocably broken by Rick's bottom, we are at last ready to offer an autumn Beerathon recap - and those all-important race times.
π But first β spring Beerathon is on Sunday 4th May 2025!
Save the date, Beeros. Get it in your diaries. We'll be in touch nearer the time for entry deets.
π€ You're amazing β you helped to raise Β£2025 this year!
Your event entries, kind donations and a cheeky bit of match funding have all come together to bring autumn's total to Β£810. This, combined with spring's Β£1215, means we have raised Β£2025 in 2024 through the medium of a silly drunken fun run. Well done, everyone. The money makes such a huge difference to both South Essex Wildlife Hospital and Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary.

You're all spectacular. It's never about winning, it's about the hellish gastronomic experience that we have all strangely normalised in the name of joy and charitable good deeds β but here's the stories behind the podium places...
In the female corner, we were proud to present our very own Beerathon Board Rachel with a first place pint glass. Thank you for dutifully laying your intestines on the line for the good of the board. Second place went to Megan, a woman who experienced the true Beerathon for the first time, swapping her rum and cokes for the full beer suite. She hated every second, vowed never, ever to drink beer again, so we hope a podium position softened the repeated malty blows. In third place, we have Laura. She has risen from fun running team member in our pilot event to the lofty heights of the Beero podium, with an outstanding run we hope will inspire her offspring/support crew.
And in the male corner, despite his casual jean shorts attire, Rick once again held his position as The Man Who Cannot Be Out-Beerathonned. He "put the boosters on" in lap five and achieved a 4.5 minute lead from his nearest challenger, Sean. However, far from despondent from losing out on the top spot, Sean was elated in having achieved a new Beerathon PB, 20 minutes quicker than his spring time. If Rick's got boosters, Sean is mainlining rocket fuel. Well done, Beero. We can all raise a glass to that. And in third place, Oli, who (much like in every area of his life) remains unwaveringly consistent in both pace and time from previous events. Which begs the question, could the addition of any form of training what-so-ever see a Rick challenger emerge for spring? Only time will tell...
Keep checking the website as photos of the day will be arriving soon!
Once again, thank you, Beeros. For the good times, for the fundraising, for your pizza-eating abilities after downing four pints and four snacks. You are all legends π
For the last time in 2024: cheers.
Your Beerathon board
Morning Beeros,
In four short weeks we will meet again in the hallowed halls of The Queen's Head for another round of brutal (joyful!) punishment (fundraising!) that's set to be our best event yet, because this time, we have pizza. See details below.
Runners, now's the time to secure your spot! We'll close entries in three weeks or when we reach 30 runners - whatever happens first. So get in there while you still can.

If you need any further convincing, tap through the gallery of our May 2024 event. Experience...
π¦ The misguided ambition of Mark in an inflatable dinosaur suit as he wedges his way through a too-small doorway
π₯ A rare moment of camaraderie between arch rivals Barry (#2) and Rick (#1) before flinging themselves to the ground in hand-to-hand combat, Rick springing to his feet, charging out of the beer garden and ultimately claiming victory
π And lastly, in a move that has become a Beerathon tradition, the celebratory lap where all runners accompany/motivate/prop-up the final Beero around their last mile
We're also thrilled to attach our stone-baked pizza menu for the evening, proudly catered by Embers. They'll take your orders on the day and will be at the Queen's Head from 12pm. We can vouch for these guys. No fewer than 100% of the Beerathon board proclaimed it was the best pizza they had ever tasted. True facts.
As ever, any questions, do hit reply to this email and we'll suss. Happy Sunday, Beeros. Can't wait to see you at the start line π»
Cheers,
Your faithful Beerathon Board
